Description

Typical Sicilian marzipan

La Martorana fruit Known and appreciated all over the world, this sweetness made of almonds, sugar and honey impresses not only with its taste, but above all with its extraordinary beauty.

An art a symbol that tells of Sicily

The origins of the martorana fruit date back to the Middle Ages, when the nuns of the convent of Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio in Palermo began creating small marzipan fruits to decorate altars. Since then, this tradition has come down to us, becoming an indelible symbol of Sicilian confectionery culture.

Beauty that deceives the eye

What makes the martorana fruit unique is its appearance: each piece is modelled and painted by hand to look like a real fruit. The nuances of colour, the brilliance of the surface and the minute details turn it into a small edible work of art. Perfect as a dessert, but also as a decorative element to display at the table on special occasions.
