Have you always heard of the renowned Bronte pistachio, but don't know how and where it is grown?
DESCRIPTION
We’ll take you on a journey to discover “Loco” – so called since the days of ancient Rome – the home of Bronte pistachios at the foot of Mount Etna.
Here, time seems to have stood still, where the Bronte pistachio plantations stretch as far as the eye can see and the lava rock provides a nurturing home for the trees.
You will have the opportunity to observe the pistachio plant up close, to touch its bark, to breathe in the smell of pistachio resin and the air of our territory.
We will unveil tools and harvesting techniques and guide you through the necessary steps for processing pistachios.
The experience will be a sensory dive entirely outdoors, among the pistachio trees and typical vegetation of Etna. In a setting simple and rustic typical of the Loca.
TASTING
And to end on a high note, we will delight you with a outdoor tasting based on the our pistachio productsto give that extra touch to the sensory experience.
It will not be a simple tour, but an experience immersed in the ancient and authentic Brontese tradition...

It's definitely worth it, interesting. A type of cultivation found only here below Mount Etna. We also saw the machine for removing the soft shell.

Sarah
You can tell these people do what they do with true passion and love! Fantastic, anyone who comes to Sicily must see the pistachio groves.

Tour of an ancient pistachio grove in Bronte with tasting
Hi Judy, summer tasting tours usually take place at 10.00 am and 5.00 pm. However, on request, we can occasionally adjust the time slightly, where possible. At lunchtime, we offer a lunch tasting at a different price. Please contact us privately to enquire about the English-language lunch tour and to arrange a date.
Bronte.store answered on August 23, 2026 store managerHi, yes, we’ll tailor the tour to your needs. We always cater to our guests' needs. There’s very little walking, and we can make as many stops as guests require. For guests with disabilities, we can concentrate the explanatory part in one spot and then finish with a tasting. The whole experience lasts approximately 2 hours. It’s very relaxing. The only advice we’d give is that if you find the heat too much, it’s best to choose the afternoon tour.
Bronte.store answered on July 2, 2026 store managerThere is no way to get there by public transport because Bronte’s pistachio groves are mostly located outside the historic centre.
You'll need a private transfer, either using your own hire car or a chauffeur-driven car.

We had the most marvellous experience! Samantha gave us a warm welcome and gave us an interesting introduction to how pistachios are grown and harvested. She then took us on a tour of the plantation, which ended with a tasting of the fantastic food her mother had prepared for the occasion. We had a lovely time chatting to her and the other guests whilst enjoying the food and the stunning view. We would definitely recommend it!
We really enjoyed the tour!
Sofia explained everything about pistachios in a very interesting and detailed way: how they are grown, how they are harvested, and all the stages the plant goes through — from a small seedling to a mature, fruit-bearing tree. It was fascinating to learn about the whole process from the inside.
Sofia is a very welcoming, friendly and cheerful person. Thanks to her, the tour was relaxed, enjoyable and, at the same time, very informative.
At the end of the tour, we enjoyed a tasting of local snacks and produce. A lovely bonus was a cake baked by Sofia’s mum — it was absolutely delicious! We also really enjoyed all the local produce we had the chance to taste.
We were very pleased with our visit and would definitely recommend this pistachio farm to anyone visiting Sicily. It is a truly fascinating place and well worth a visit!
We really, really enjoyed the visit!

At the end of the visit, we were treated to a tasting of local produce and specialities. The cake made by Sofia’s mum was also a lovely surprise: it was absolutely delicious! We really enjoyed all the other products we tasted as well.

We had a brilliant guided tour of the pistachio farm and learnt a great deal about the care and effort that goes into this type of farming. The tasting was brilliant and the atmosphere was very friendly.
Thank you so much, Klaus; we’re glad you enjoyed it.
